In June 2025, Hospital Blua Sanitas Valdebebas was inaugurated as Spain’s first fully digital hospital and one of the most advanced in Europe.
With digitalisation and innovation at the heart of its identity, the company’s fifth hospital offers care across the full range of medical and surgical specialties and includes dedicated units for medical oncology, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine. It also features an advanced mental health unit designed to provide specialised, multidisciplinary care.
Mi Salud Genómica is a pioneering preventive medicine programme based on full genome sequencing and analysis.
Its purpose is to identify the risk of developing genetically predisposed conditions, such as certain types of cancer and type 2 diabetes, through personalised genomic insights. This makes it possible to design individualised health plans aimed at reducing or mitigating future risks. Through this initiative, Sanitas is at the forefront of healthcare transformation and is setting a benchmark for the future of healthcare.
The company continues to grow through the expansion of its care network across all business lines.
Sanitas Hospitales now has five owned hospitals, in addition to three currently under construction: Hospital Marina in Barcelona, Hospital Sanitas Arganzuela in Madrid and Hospital Portitxol in Palma de Mallorca.
Sanitas Dental opened 11 new clinics in Spain, as well as its first dental clinic in Portugal.
Sanitas Mayores, which opened a new care home in Madrid in 2025, now operates 45 care homes, 19 of them with integrated day care centres, as well as three standalone day care centres.
In 2025, Sanitas diversified its care model with three initiatives beyond traditional private health insurance.
Under the Bupa brand, Sanitas entered the Portuguese market with three health insurance products and a dental clinic. It also launched — Mindplace —specialist centres offering psychology, psychiatry and speech and language therapy services— and Drop —an initiative that combines preventive, personalised and accessible medicine to provide people living with obesity with treatment supervised by a multidisciplinary medical team.
There is a direct relationship between people's health, their lifestyle and the environment they live in.
Ten years ago, Sanitas launched Healthy Cities, a sustainability initiative that promotes healthier and more sustainable habits and environments. Since then, the number of participants in this challenge — which encourages people to walk 6,000 steps a day and turns those steps into trees — has continued to grow year after year. In its tenth edition, the initiative brought together more than 22,600 participants and over 230 participating companies, while raising more than €600,000 for projects to create green spaces in cities.
Talent, training and support. At Sanitas, these three elements lie at the heart of healthcare excellence.
During the 2025–2026 academic year, Sanitas Campus expanded its educational offering with the opening of Campus Barcelona FP, offering three programmes: Diploma in Healthcare Support, Advanced Diploma in Dental and Oral Care, Advanced Diploma in Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine. This further strengthens Sanitas Campus FP, a comprehensive education programme comprising two vocational training centres — one in Madrid and one in Barcelona — together with Sanitas Universidad Europea Campus for university degree programmes.
Sanitas continues to make progress towards its ambition of achieving net zero emissions by 2040.
Sanitas implements energy efficiency and energy-saving measures, streamlines its processes and uses renewable energy to minimise the environmental impact of its facilities. As a result of this strategy, the company has reduced its Scope 1 and Scope 2 CO₂e emissions by almost 80% compared with 2009.
As part of its continued commitment to promoting and advancing inclusive sport, Sanitas organised the first Inclusive All-Star Game.
Wheelchair players and standing players put on a spectacular display, combining excitement, emotion and a powerful message of equality. Held at Madrid’s iconic Magariños Sports Hall, where many of Spain’s basketball legends began their careers, and with NBA legend Scottie Pippen serving as the event’s ambassador, Fundación Sanitas once again demonstrated that the future of sport is inclusive.
Sanitas' purpose is to help people live longer, healthier and happier lives. It is a vision we share with the Bupa Group, of which we have been a part since 1989. Today, Sanitas is expanding its healthcare infrastructure to strengthen and extend its network of hospitals, dental clinics and care homes, bringing safe, high-quality care closer to the people who need it.
Improving people's quality of life is what drives us. That is why we are committed to bringing the healthcare of the future into the present. Achieving this means delivering the best possible care while embracing the latest digital solutions. Our formula: prevention, innovation and personalised care.
Caring for people's health and the planet. This is Sanitas’ purpose. We work under the One Health approach, helping to create healthier, more sustainable environments. Green spaces that promote biodiversity and enrich the natural environment. Places that improve quality of life and benefit people’s health.
